Built from What Was Already Built

Recycled concrete starts as demolished slabs, road pavement, building foundations, and other concrete structures. Ernst processes this material through industrial crushing and screening to produce clean, graded aggregate that performs as well as virgin stone in many construction applications.

Specifying recycled concrete diverts construction and demolition debris from landfills, reduces the demand for quarried materials, and can contribute to LEED and sustainability documentation. It is also one of the most cost-effective base materials available for sub-grade work, backfill, and site preparation across residential and commercial projects.

Three Ways to Put Recycled Concrete to Work

Each product is processed and graded to meet a distinct set of construction applications.

#2 Recycled Crushed Concrete

A coarser crushed concrete aggregate used as sub-base material beneath slabs and driveways, and as cost-effective backfill for excavations, retaining walls, and utility trenches. Available in bulk for residential and commercial projects.

#304 Recycled Crushed Concrete

A well-graded recycled mix containing larger aggregate and fine material. This blend self-compacts and drains well, making it the preferred base for driveways, parking lots, walkways, and commercial slab sub-grades.

Recycled Concrete Blocks

Large, stackable blocks manufactured from reclaimed concrete for retaining walls and storage bunkers. Available in two sizes: 2 ft x 2 ft x 4 ft long and 2 ft x 2 ft x 6 ft long. No mortar or specialized installation equipment required.

Crushed and Graded for Proven Performance

Ernst produces both #2 and #304 recycled crushed concrete to give you the correct gradation for your application. Both products are processed from clean demolished concrete and meet standard sub-base specifications for residential and commercial construction.

Driveways and Parking AreasBoth grades provide a stable, compactable base layer beneath asphalt or concrete driveways, parking lots, and access roads on residential and commercial sites.
Slab Sub-Base and Backfill#2 recycled crushed concrete works as cost-effective backfill for excavations and as the compacted base layer under concrete slabs in commercial and residential construction.
Utility Trench and Road Base#304 recycled crushed concrete drains quickly and compacts reliably, making it a sound choice for utility trench backfill, temporary haul roads, and permanent access road base layers.

Recycled Concrete Blocks for Walls and Bunkers

Ernst recycled concrete blocks are large-format, heavy-duty blocks cast from reclaimed concrete. They are designed for freestanding retaining walls, storage bunkers, material containment bays, and site separation structures without mortar or special installation equipment.

Each block rests firmly on the next due to its mass and flat bearing surfaces, creating a stable structure that can be assembled, reconfigured, or relocated as project needs change. Available in two standard sizes to accommodate different wall heights and load requirements.
